CLEMENTINE HIRES N. POLE 750 nm MOSAIC

Mosaic of Clementine HIRES images (750 nm) centered on the lunar North Pole sampled at 50 m/pixel. A description of the HIRES camera and calibration can be found in JOURNAL OF GEOPHYSICAL RESEARCH, VOL. 108, NO. E4, 5028, doi:10.1029/2000JE001241, 2003. A subarea of the full mosaic can be seen as Figure 19 and a slightly modfied version below. Use of this mosaic can be referenced to the above JGR article.

The images were controlled by selecting match points between the individual HIRES frames controlled to areas in the UVVIS mosaic that are known to be reliable (away from the pole). A least squares fit was perfomed on the matchpoints and tiepoints to minimize the image offsets by adjusting the camera angles. The images were then reprojected and mosaicked to create the final product (mosaic order). The individual Clementine HIRES frames with updated camera pointing on the image labels can be downloaded as a compressed tar file (tar -xzvf npole_isis_cubs.tgz).
