NEAR Image Database
- The database can be searched on many different parameters. You may constrain your results by:
- Latitude,
- Longitude,
- MET,
- Resolution,
- Phase Angle,
- Incidence Angle, and
- Emission Angle.
- About the "Statistically remove blank images" option:
This option may not remove all blank images and may remove images which are not blank.
An image is considered "blank" if either of the following is true:
- pixelMean<130 AND pixelMax<400
- (pixelStdDev/pixelMean<.055) AND pixelMean<850
- Results may be sorted by:
- MET (ie, chronological),
- Resolution,
- Best *,
- Phase Angle,
- Incidence Angle, or
- Emission Angle
in either ascending or descending order.
* An image is deemed morphologically "better" according to the following equation:
The lower the value, the "better the image".
- Search Results:
Once the user completes the form and queries the database, the image
results will be displayed. Selecting an image will give you the full
size image and more detailed information about the
image. The user will also be able to download the image in their
prefered format (Calibrated and Deblurred FITS or PNG).

This searchable image database is part of Emerson Speyerer's
2003 summer internship at Northwestern University. The project has been
directed and guided by Mark Robinson at the Center for Planetary Sciences. |
